ALANNA & MIKE

Engaged  |  Cross Estate Gardens, Bernardsville, NJ

When I first spoke with Alanna it was like I had found my long lost sister. We grew up in the same area, almost the same age, and we both love art. She is actually pursuing her Masters in fine art right now – how cool is that!? We connected on so many levels it just felt right that I would spend her wedding day with her and her future husband capturing every beautiful moment that created the day. So I was thrilled when she said they had chosen me! We just clicked immediately and everything flowed from there.

We’ve all heard the age old phrase “there’s a first time for everything,” and it certainly has rung true for Alanna, Mike and I quite a few times during the short, but sweet time we’ve spent together so far. When Alanna first contacted me to discuss wedding photography there was one unique factor I had yet to experience with a couple – she wasn’t just yet engaged! She knew that Mike would be popping the question soon, she just wasn’t 100% sure when, and she wanted to get some research done to accommodate the short timeline for her dream wedding in September. I was honored to be part of this unique plan and what was even better … when she was officially engaged I got to experience the excitement of finding out the news from her and sharing in such joy and surprise alongside with her.

In true style, Mike opted for the quiet and intimacy of their home to ask Alanna to marry him. After a long day in class Alanna tucked herself on their recliner to relax when suddenly she looked over and found Mike beside her, on one knee, asking her to marry him. It took her a few moments to register what exactly was happening, but once she realized the moment she was anticipating for so long had arrived she excitedly said, “yes!”

From the moment we arrived at the park together Alanna and Mike had the biggest smiles on their faces. Their love for one another was evident in everything we did – the way Mike would hold Alanna close to him, the way Alanna looked deep into Mike’s eyes every time the had a moment together. They were such naturals in front of the camera, and so joyful! I loved capturing every minute! Enjoy!
