Mel and Steve share one of the most classic love stories. They’ve known each other for as long as they can remember. They attended the same church and went to the same private school. Steve was a close friend with Mel’s brother and spent many play dates at her house. He also joined them on their annual family beach vacations. Sometimes that young love grows into a deep friendship and other times it blooms into something more. Over the years, they realized they were a great match and officially started their dating relationship. Five years later Steve took Mel out on a date she would never forget. How romantic is it to know each other your entire life?? It’s a very unique experience to share such a long history with your spouse before you marry them, and one that is sure to set a firm foundation for the many years to come.

There were so many unique and beautiful facets to Mel and Steve’s wedding celebration. While I was shooting the details in the morning, Mel was playing the piano practicing the song she would play for Steve at their reception – fittingly, A Thousand Years – a tribute to how far they have come and the journey ahead. Isn’t she the sweetest!

In true 2018 wedding season fashion, the weather decided to throw a little rain into the day, but thankfully it didn’t affect much of our outdoor plans. It actually started down pouring right when we got the location for the first look and we were seconds away from implementing our “rain plan” when the skies suddenly cleared up just as fast as it started. Whewph! I was worried Mel was going to be stressed on the drive over, but when I asked her about it she said she didn’t even notice! She’s amazing! That’s truly a bride focused on the joy of the day and what it really all comes down to – marrying the love of your life, no matter what.I’m so exited to share Mel and Steve’s beautiful love story with you.
