KATHERINE & DOM

Married  |  David’s Country Inn, Hackettstown, NJ

Today I am so excited to share Katherine and Dominic’s wedding! These two are high school sweethearts and have been together for years. Their story is the sweetest, and Katherine was sure to add little touches of their journey throughout their wedding day. They met is Chemistry class and struck up a friendship (and a tendency to find themselves in trouble because they would always be talking so much). From the moment they met, I think it’s safe to say that Dom has kept Katherine laughing. She just has to look at him and a huge smile stretches across her face; and when he looks back at her he always mirrors it. Katherine and Dom grew their friendship and then started dating a couple years later. They went to prom and graduated together, and soon after, they prepared to head to separate colleges.

Despite the long distance, there was always one constant tying Katherine and Dom together – their Catholic faith. During her years at Seton Hall, Katherine would regularly visit the chapel for mass and time to pray, particularly for Dominic and their relationship. It was only fitting that during one of Dom’s visits to see Katherine they attended mass together and, unbeknownst to either of them, the next chapter of their lives was about to begin. During mass that day, the priest’s spoke during his homily about diamonds and believers. It must have been such inspiration of the Holy Spirit how all of this came together, but after he compared the facets of a diamond to the community of believers in the Catholic Church, Dom took it as a sign that it was the right time to propose to Katherine. After mass ended the two headed to the alter to pray quietly together and as Katherine was getting up, she turned around and saw Dom on his knee. He asked her to marry him in her favorite spot on campus.

One of the most unique aspects of Katherine and Dom’s wedding was seen through their friends and family. Not only did tons of people come to witness their marriage, they also had 22 of their closest friends to make up their bridal party… tribe. It was so much fun to be a part of all the smiles, laughing and enthusiasm that they exuded the whole day!

After the ceremony, we stopped over at Round Valley Park to take some couple’s portraits in the wildflower fields and along the edge of the lake. I could have stayed there all day with these two, but I promised I would get them to their cocktail hour on time! Since their reception was at David’s Country Inn we, of course, took some photos at the ivy wall as well. The cocktail hour was beautiful and the reception had even more details. Pictures of Dom and Katherine throughout their childhood and dating relationship were framed on all the tables. Beautiful arrangements of hydrangea and roses were placed on pedestals and each place was set with a plate of fresh berries and lemon sorbet.

Once the new Mr. and Mrs. swept under the bridal party bridge during their entrance the dancing never stopped. This crowd stayed on the dance floor, going crazy, all night. It was absolutely epic. AND on top of all that, we even got some rain later that night, so we were able to steal outside for a quick second and take some awesome backlit rain shots! Katherine and Dom were absolute champs the whole day, whether facing 90 degree heat, trekking through a field of brambles, or dancing in the rain, and the adventure is only getting started. I can’t wait to see what else God has in store for this amazing couple! Enjoy!
